Metamorphosis

I love Halloween, the crisp fall air, kids in costumes and candy. However, as an adult, I don't particularly enjoy dressing up for Halloween. Conceptualizing and finding a costume can be difficult and stressful. Every year my sister-in-law and her husband host a Halloween party, of course, our kids love it when we dress up. I went to work as myself, but to the Halloween party as Kat von D from LA Ink.

Classic fall

I recently found this jacket at Sin City Antique Gallery. The best part, the original tags were still on it. The gold color and the brocade pattern make it a perfect fall jacket.

Blue

Blue is my favorite color in general, but I especially love wearing blue because it brings out my blue eyes and compliments my skin tone. I conceptualized this outfit in my head a while ago, but put it on the backburner. I am pleased with the actual results.

Cincinnati Area Store Closing

Several months ago I discovered Sin City Antique Gallery located in Newport, Kentucky. Within a few minutes, I fell in love with their unique selection of clothes, jewelry, accessories and housewares. The owner notified me that the store will be closing. I am saddened by this and now wish that I had discovered this Newport treasure earlier. Luckily this cloud has a silver lining...

Sin City Antique is having a SALE. Starting Saturday, October 24, select Merchandise will up to 40% off and all clothing will be $5.o0. Those of you who live in the Cincinnati area, please try to stop in this weekend. If you don't live here, perhaps consider a road trip...

Sole sisters

I am a member of ShoeDazzle (a.k.a. Shoe of the Month club). This is a fantastic idea and I can't believe no one has thought of this before. For $39/month, an awesome pair of shoes of your choice is sent to your door. October is Breast Cancer Awarness month. To recognize those who have been afflicted by breast cancer and to raise money to help find a cure, ShoeDazzle offered a hot pink shoe to all of its members. This shoe literally called my name. The name of the shoe...Stephanie.

What I wore while sitting in meetings ALL day...

Per the title, I spent most of my time at work today in back to back meetings. When I finally made it back to my office, people wanted impromptu meetings with me. People, I have work to do! I didn't get much accomplished today, but at least I looked good!

Ruffled cardigan - Kohl's

Masculine and feminine

I decided to mix both masculine and feminine details in today's outfit. The structured jacket and boots qualify as masculine, while the ruffled top and sparkly trousers are feminine. These are some of my favorite trousers. They are gray wool with metallic thread throughout. They are subtly shiny.

The outfit:
Velvet blazer - Mossimo
Ruffled top and necklace - Ann Taylor Loft
Gray "shiny" trousers - New York and Company
Black booties - Payless
Spoon Ring - French Quarter, New Orleans

Homecoming

My husband has been out of town at a conference this week. He was home when I got home from work, so I was able to snap a picture of today's outfit. I liked the color combination, but I think I would have liked the outfit better if the blazer was shorter. Still unseasonably cold, so I pulled out my fur cuff boots. I plan on wearing this alot this year as they are uber warm!

The outfit:
Dress - Target
Corduroy blazer - Bitten by SJP
Cable knit tights - Old Navy (I think?)
Fur-cuffed boots - Ann Taylor Loft
Monogram pendant and necklace - gifted

Brrr....

What happened to fall? The high in Cincy today is only supposed to reach 43! Today's temperature is typical of November/early December. I am not quite ready to pull out my winter coat.

I made another trip last week to one of the treasures of our area - Sin City Antiques (Newport, KY). If you are ever in the Cincinnati area, plan on making Sin City part of your stop. They are currently in the process of displaying fall/winter clothing and it appears that they will have some real gems. I was lucky enough to get an early look of what is to come and found this fantastic jacket last week. I can't wait to pair it with jeans and boots.
The outfit:
Plaid jacket - Pendelton (Sin City Antiques)
Tank - Daisy Fuentes (Kohl's)
Black pencil skirt - Apt. 9 (Kohl's)
Patterned tights (sorry, no detail pic) - WalMart
Black booties - Steve Madden

Today's outfit

Sorry, no title today as I could not think of one. Nothing really imaginative about today's outfit. I stood in front of my closet this morning thinking of what to wear. I wasn't really inspired by anything and decided to go with a classic red/black combination. I am glad that I went with a black shirt today since I spilled coffee down the front of it walking out the door.

The outfit:
Cream and red tank - INC
Black wrap T and Red cardi - Ann Taylor Loft
Gray skirt - New York & Company
Black fishnets - WalMart
Silver choker - Lia Sophia

Can't let go...

I like to think that I do a pretty good job of getting rid of clothing when I haven't worn someting for a while (6-12 months generally). My husband my argue differently based on the quantity of clothing in my closets. But if something doesn't fit anymore or it hasn't been used, I donate it so that others may get some use. However, I cannot seem to part with this jacket. I haven't worn it in many years, but every time I try to part with it, I can't. I love the suede collar and the different tweed patterns throughout. Since boyfriend blazers are back "in" I thought I would give this baby a spin during fall.

Can you guess how long I have had it? I think it is about 15 years old! Easily one of the oldest pieces of clothing I have in my closet. Do you have anything in your closet that you just can't bear to part with? How long have you had it?

The outfit:

Jacket and trousers (purchased more than a decade a part) - The Limited

Cowl neck shirt - Merona

Brown heels - Target

Short gold necklace - gifted

Long necklace - Ann Taylor Loft

Ebony and Ivory

I decided to keep the color palette simple today by pairing black with ivory. But, decided to play with texture and patterns today. I just received this new obi belt from iamerica over at Etsy. Isn't it fantastic! I can't wait to work it into many outfits this fall.

Several little details

We had a busy weekend, but thankfully I had time to pull out my fall/winter clothes and pack the warm weather clothes away until next year. During the warm weather months, I wore this skirt with a coral color jacket. Since the fabric of the skirt is tweed, it can be worn into the cooler fall months. Today I decided to pair it with orange.
I bought this flower pin recently and when I was putting my outfit together last night, I decided to try pinning it to the hem of my skirt. However, after taking the picture, I moved it more to the side and away from the center of the skirt.

The details:
Sweater - The Limited
Ruffled tank - Ann Taylor Loft
Skirt - Merona (thrifted)
Leopard heels - Target
Necklace - Lia Sophia
Flower pin - New York & Company
