Yes, you are seeing correctly. I am wearing jeans and flats to work. No, I did not oversleep or fall and hit my head. My wardrobe choices today were pre-conceived. The last several days, I have been inventorying lab samples getting ready to send them for analyses. I have not been appropriately dressed for this task. Again today I will be walking across campus several times between our short-term and long-term storage freezers, sorting hundreds of tubes - comfort and mobility were key. I don't really like wearing flats, I feel as if I lose any authority I have when not in heels. Back to heels tomorrow.Tuesday, June 30, 2009

All about the shoes
The June Inspiration Calendar called for "All about the shoes" today. I immediately thought of wearing these heels. They stand-out, are original and comfortable! I always gets lots of compliments and plenty of stares (from those too shy to say anything to me) when I wear them. I do not what I was thinking wearing this blouse today. It was over 90 degrees today. I must have forgotten it was summer for a minute.
The outfit:
Blouse - New York & Company
White tank and brown capris - Ann Taylor Loft
Trapeze heels - Oh Deer!
Necklace - The Limited

Buried
I took my picture on Monday morning and brought my SD card into work so that I could post an update at lunch. By then I could not locate the card and have not been able to locate it for the last two days. I found the card this morning buried under the ever-increasing piles of work mounting up on my desk. Yay! Now I can return to blogging. The outfit:
Blouse and navy cami (underneath) - New York and Company
Black pencil skirt - Express
Red Mary Janes - Nine West
Earrings - Target?? (I'm not really sure)

Leading Lady
When I last posted (10 days ago, sorry) I was wearing pink and black as well. It is one of my favorite color combinations. I had forgotten that I owned this skirt (sad, how that happens), but remembered when I saw this raspberry colored cardigan while shopping last weekend. I survived camp this week and learned a lot about leadership and myself. As part of the experience we had the opportunity to challenge ourselves on a ropes course suspended 35 feet off the ground! It was a fun, challenging and exhilirating experience. This week I have put into practice what I learned and have received great feedback from my team.
The outfit:
Cardigan w/ crystal buttons and skirt - New York & Company
Ivory tank - Ann Taylor Loft
Beaded necklace - Kohl's
Black pearl bracelet - crafted by me
Chain bracelet w/ flower charm - Tiffany & Co.
Black, wedge sandals - White House Black Market

Pencil skirt and bright top
If I had to choose a uniform, a pencil skirt and T-shirt would be it. It is comfortable, yet classy. Of course, the only way to wear a pencil skirt is with a great pair of heels. I originally thought about going with plain black heels, but thought I would spice up the "solids" with a print on my feet. The outfit:
Pink T-shirt - Ann Taylor Loft
Black skirt - Express
Belt and 2 beaded cuff bracelets - New York & Company
Zebra print heels - Steve Madden

Blossom
Today's post pays tribute to another TV character reference - Blossom. What Not to Wear kicked off a new season last Friday and Stacey and Clinton's challenge was none other than Mayim Bialik from Blossom. It is comforting to know that even those in show business need help to look their best. One of the outfits that she featured included a gray skirt, a navy jacket, and a tank with all-over red and white print. A jacket seemed to formal for what was on my calendar today, so I swapped it out for a sweater. Oh, and a rare occurrence - flats! I knew that I was going to be on my feet and walking a lot today, and flats seemed more comfortable than heels. The outfit:
Navy sweater - Forever 21
Red and white tank - INC
Gray skirt - New York & Company
Red flats - Anne Klein (DSW)
Peridot pendant and gold chain - gifts
